Mission: Pterodactyl’s mission is to revive the enjoyment and practice of creating art for personal fulfillment, to create exhibitions and experiences that resonate with diverse audiences, and to bring people together through the arts.
Founded in 2009, Pterodactyl brings art and art-making to the public by providing low-cost art classes and studio spaces and by presenting performances, lectures, screenings and exhibits.
Art Classes: Pterodactyl offers 2-3 sessions per year of evening art classes for adults. Classes take place on weekdays and begin between 6:00 and 7:00 pm. They typically run for 2-3 hours, occurring on a weekly basis, and spanning a time frame ranging between 4 and 8 weeks. The number of students in a class varies between 5 and 10 people. Pterodactyl also offers workshops, which take place over a period of 1-2 days.
Studio Spaces: Though Pterodactyl currently has only two studio spaces, which it rents out for artistic purposes, there are plans to increase the number of studios over the next three years.
Performances/Lectures/Screenings/Exhibits: Pterodactyl has a twice-monthly series of art and music events which run from April to December each year. These events occur in conjunction with ongoing monthly exhibits as well as more informal, one-day art shows. In addition, we hope to begin a series of lectures and independent film screenings, along with other events. |
